a loft, and three fields and a croft. Another croft next to that house belonged to John. John also owned estates
called Leylands and Naylors in Lowton, a house in Lowton called Throps (left to his son Henry), an estate named
Twiss’s, an estate named Lowes (left to his son James), and a messuage and tenement in Newton in Makerfield
(left to his son James).

By 1800 he had just built a house, warehouse and related buildings to manufacture cotton (including a joiner’s shop
and retail shop), which he left to his son James.

His wedding was witnessed by James Leigh and John Stirrup.
